Dor!

Look, I saw Dor!
On Thursday, Dor drove Justin and I to a park Tel Aviv, where we went to a big park to meet up with his friends. Or so we thought. Turns out, what we were actually doing was going to an Anime and Manga social convention. If someone had told me 6 months ago that I'd be going to an Anime convention in Israel, I probably wouldn't believe them. Or maybe I would. Lost has made me much more keen to looking out for such visitors. (See? I'm not judging. As I told Dor's friends, While Anime and Manga aren't my bag, I am a nerd about the 1993 Phillies, Norm MacDonald, Lost, and many other things. Most of my friends are probably rolling their eyes at the fact that I even felt the need to clarify this, but there's a slim chance that half of the readers didn't know that I'm a nerd.) Anyway, Dor's pals were all really awesome. I was able to hang with Dor, talk some comedy shop with Zeev, and now I have a standing invitation to visit Hod Sharon from a guy named Fresh. Did I mention that some of them were dressed up? Here's Justin with one of such ladies:

After the convention, Justin and I grabbed a bite to eat, stopped in a bar called "English Pub" for an hour to kill some time before the Maccabbi game. Our beers came with a free "chaser," which sounds confusing, but let me break it down for you. In Israel, a "chaser" = a shot and a "shot" = a double shot. Got it? Great. Somewhere in there, I got the bad news from Yeela that she was canceling on me for the weekend. Something about "traveling" to the "north" with "her parents." Yeah, I didn't buy it either.

I did a brief post about the game earlier, but one quick anecdote: When Yoni and I were exchanging emails, for some reason I thought that we'd be going to see the Maccabbi game. You know, in person. I thought this right up until we were leaving for Tel Aviv, when Ravi, the friendliest security guard you'll ever meet, let me know that the game was being played in Barcelona. Oh well. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
